F.L.P support UK-based Christian charity, International Aid Trust.
International Aid Trust was founded by Revd Rtn Bernard Cocker in 1991 after he visited the former Soviet Union where he saw human pain and suffering on a large scale. Now, 15-years later, IAT are a large international charity working both in the UK and Eastern Europe.
IAT are currently building a children's centre near Odessa, Ukraine; here there are a lot of young orphans living both on the streets and in derelict buildings, where glue sniffing and drug taking is rife.
IAT want to take these children off the streets, provide clean clothes and medication as well as work with the children to help them become and stay drug-free. International Aid Trust was one of several charities that applied for a selection of play equipment from Fenland Leisure Products range for the new Children's Centre.
On hearing the news that International Aid Trust had been chosen as F.L.P's benefiting charity, Alison Hammerton, Office Administrator, said: "This is really wonderful news, and on behalf of all at IAT a HUGE thank you to you all - this will be a very much used and valued resource and we can't thank you enough."
Once the building has been completed, around Easter 2009, F.L.P and IAT will arrange transportation of a play train, two spring rockers, two play panels and a swing, as well as the concrete mix to aid safe and secure installation.
We hope that in some small part Fenland Leisure Products' play equipment will help these children start a new and safer life through the Children's Centre.
Local Charity Work
F.L.P also has pleasure in supporting local charities as well. Christchurch Pre School prior to our involvement had no areas of shade or features within there outdoor space, this the garden was under used and the children could not play outside for long periods during the summer months due to shading issues. F.L.P provided a Sunsail canopy providing shade during those hot summer days allowing the children to play and picnic outside. Planter boxes so the children could grow there own fruit and vegetables and a play table. Pre-school leader Lisa Markham said "your generous donation has enabled the pre-school to meet our Ofstead requirements so much sooner and provide the children with a wonderful garden. Our Preschool runs on limited income and without your involvement none of this work would have been possible. The children will gain so much enjoyment from this area now".
