One project in particular this year at Clapham Common surpassed both ours and the customers’ expectations in positive feedback and community gratitude.
The Project was for Lambeth Borough Council, the brief; to provide outdoor gym and fitness equipment for use by the general public, on a site that needed redeveloping over previously capped World War 2 bunkers.
The urban park in Clapham, South London is operated by Lambeth Borough Council. There are 220 acres of open greens packed with joggers, cyclists, kite flyers and children and also hosts a number of festivals and events. The brief was given to provide outdoor gym equipment for use by the general public and private instructors alike, on a site that needed redeveloping over previously capped World War 2 bunkers.
Work began in 1940 at the start of bombing and it took eight months to build, at the cost of 11 workers’ lives. The bunker system part of a network of 1300 beneath London was constructed 100ft below Clapham common to protect up to 8000 people against falling Nazi Bombs
Site 1 – Clapham Common North – suitable for joggers, football teams and school group warm up before games.
Site 3 – Clapham Common West Side – Suitable for large fitness group training like Military Fitness and Go Mammoth
