The Project –
DIY SOS see’s presenter Nick Knowles and his team, round up friends, family and local tradesmen and businesses to help transform homes and buildings across the country. But this build is unlike any other; it’s the Million Pound BIG BUILD.
The Children in Need Special aired on BBC One, Wednesday 13th November, is the largest project to date by DIY SOS and takes place at The Spinney in Peterborough, home to some little miracles.
Little Miracles is a parent led support group for families with children that have additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions based in Peterborough.
The centre, at which they engage has been in disrepair for a number of years and based on budget cuts, faced an uncertain future. They are entirely voluntary with no paid member of staff and so are always looking for help…and help they received.
Nick Knowles, the team and hoards of tradesmen and community help; demolished, relayed, rebuilt, re-rendered, with occasional re-hydration of course…and revealed an amazing purpose built centre for more miracles to happen.
All of us at Fenland Leisure Products are really proud to have been involved in the build. Following a site assessment with Nick, Mark and Jules, we proposed an exciting play area for Little Miracles and manufactured the equipment at our factory prior to the build. Our donation to the build included a suspension bridge, set of balance beams, swinging steps, timber post play panels and a bird’s nest swing to help enhance the outdoor activities for the children. Our installation team donated 4 days to the project on site and thoroughly enjoyed being part of the build on this unique, rewarding and generous project.
We would like to wish Little Miracles a very happy and playful future in their exciting new home.
