Fosters Property Maintenance Ltd – a property maintenance company based in Wisbech first got in touch with FLP in early 2016 in need of some assistance in creating a more attractive, friendly and soft surfaced outdoor area for a youth hostel in the centre of Cambridge, and whilst that particular project is still in the throes of planning and design. Other projects have come to the fore with more pressing issues, and as always Fenland Leisure Products have been on hand to offer a solution.
The Harbour School in Wilburton, opened in September 2003. It is a county maintained day and residential special school for boys aged between 5 and 17 who have social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. Pupils attend this school from all over Cambridgeshire with almost a fifth of all children staying in on site Boarding. Working with FPM, we were commissioned to turn a boggy, overgrown garden space into a bright and usable area for quiet play for the younger children at the school.
Access in to the Garden space was a problem with a narrow pathway being the only way in and out of the area, and with tonnes of Soil to remove and MOT stone, Rubber and artificial grass to come in the challenge was on. Never one to shy away from a difficult project, we hired in a special conveyor belt to help with the removals and work was soon underway. A new perimeter fence was put in place, and the rubber wetpour surfacing partnered with artificial grass to give a textural variety and help to keep the area clean, tidy and usable whatever the weather.
Although the surfacing has only been in place for a few weeks, we are already hearing some very positive feedback from the School, and the team at Foster Property are already looking for the next venture we can partner on.
