Whaddon Playground, Hertfordshire
When Neil Gallery first approached FLP his hopes for the village of Whaddon, Cambridgeshire, were to achieve enough funding to give Whaddon's residents the play area that they deserved. Whilst Whaddon Village already had an existing play area, this was quite basic and old. It was definitely in need of a revamp!
The £60,000 refurbishment at Whaddon is a shining example of just how much a 'face lift' new play equipment can give to a village playing field. Whaddon's new play area is the result of the Play Pathfinder Scheme, which we worked alongside Mr Gallery, the residents, parents and Village committee in achieving.
One major issue in installing the new surfacing was that the area we would be fitting the new equipment had to be filled deeper with extra stone as this would deter moles from ruining the new surface in the future.

The installation at Whaddon took place in Spring 2009, since then we have visited the site several times and have received some good feedback. The equipment there has been well received and is being used to its full potential.
